Case Study: Book Week themed fun

Wamberal P&C’s Book Week Grazing Boxes a Tasty Success

Tricia, the dedicated manager of the Wamberal Public School P&C-run canteen, found a creative and delicious way to bring the school community together - by offering picnic-style grazing boxes for families to enjoy on the school grounds following the school's Book Week parade.

The event created a warm and welcoming atmosphere, as families gathered to share lunch and continue the celebration after the parade. To make the day even more enjoyable and hassle-free, the canteen offered pre-ordered grazing boxes packed with family favourites: fresh fruit, cheese and crackers, sandwich quarters, crunchy vegetable crudités with hummus, mini quiches, and scrolls.

Designed to be easy to eat and perfect for picnicking, the boxes were a thoughtful way to involve the canteen in a special school event that would usually see a quiet day for orders. Promoted through the canteen’s Facebook page and the Flexischools app, the initiative received an enthusiastic response - 58 boxes were sold in total.

The success of the grazing boxes was not only a win for the canteen and P&C but also a celebration of community spirit. Families appreciated the opportunity to enjoy time together on school grounds, and the picnic provided a relaxed, shared experience for students, parents, and carers alike.

Tricia – supported by the P&C’s canteen convenor Emily and ever-willing volunteers -  helped contribute to the overall success of the school's Book Week parade picnic - showcasing the power of simple ideas to make school events even more memorable for families and students.
